Your First Visit

Initial Consultation

Before your first visit, I will send you a confidential Health History Form to complete. It includes general health questions, medical history, past/present injuries, medications, and other physical conditions that I need to be aware of.

Upon your arrival, I’ll review the health history information with you, and together we’ll establish a plan for the session, based upon your goals and needs. For subsequent visits, we’ll have a shorter discussion to review your goals and the effects of your previous visit, and make adjustments to your treatment plan as necessary.

The initial consultation takes about 10-15 minutes. Your massage starts once you are on the table so if your first session is 60 minutes, you’ll want to plan for 75-80 minutes total.

Please allow yourself plenty of time for travel and parking. There is free two-hour street parking on both N Street and 20th Street, metered parking on 21st Street, and a parking lot around the corner on 20th Street between Capitol and N. Please watch out for “street-cleaning” days to avoid ticketing or towing.

Preparing For Your Massage

I’ll leave the treatment room to give you time to prepare for your massage. You can dress down or leave your underclothing on, whichever is most comfortable for you. The massage table is padded and warmed, and very comfortable! Throughout the session, you’ll be appropriately draped, ensuring that your modesty is respected at all times. Oftentimes, I can work through the drape as well, so if this is preferable to you, just let me know.

Receiving Your Massage

Once you are ready, I’ll return to the treatment room.  I’ll check in with you on temperature and after a few moments, check in on pressure as well. If you have any concerns, such as volume of music, room/table temperature, pressure, or anything else during your massage, please let me know right away and I will do my best to make the necessary adjustments to ensure your comfort.

After Your Massage

When the massage is complete, take your time getting off the table. It’s common to feel a bit light-headed, so you’ll want to take it easy. Post-massage, be sure to hydrate to help support your body’s natural metabolic processes. Water and a selection of herbal teas are available in the Waiting Room.
