How Often Should I Get a Massage?

The short answer is – it depends! For wellness maintenance, a session every 3-6 weeks is best. If there is a specific issue that you need to have addressed, you may need to come in more frequently and then taper down until you reach maintenance mode. 

What Should I Wear?

You can dress down to your level of comfort. Throughout the session, you’ll be appropriately draped, ensuring that your modesty is respected at all times. I can work through the drape or through lightweight clothing as well, so if this is preferable to you, just let me know.

Does Massage Have To Hurt To Be Effective?

Definitely not. That said, sometimes bodywork can cause intense sensation. It should feel like pain leaving the body, though, not pain being inflicted.  

Should I Talk During My Session?

Totally up to you.  I follow your lead. If you need quiet time, take it and enjoy. If you love to talk, I do too! Talking things through can be quite therapeutic. Anything we discuss in the studio remains confidential. Many of my clients start out with conversation, and as the session progresses, become quiet and introspective.  

Can I Bring My Own Massage Lotion?

Yes. I use unscented Biotone Advanced Therapy Massage Lotion (click here for ingredients), but if you are sensitive, please feel free to bring a lotion or an oil that you know works well for your skin. 

Can I Exercise After My Massage?

Yes! Though I wouldn’t recommend an intense workout immediately afterwards, a yin yoga class, some gentle stretching, or a short walk is beneficial.
