Massage therapy is an ancient healing practice dating back thousands of years. Modern research indicates that massage reduces stress, relieves musculoskeletal and neurological pain, and improves overall health.
I specialize in relieving pain and tension from neck, shoulders, back and hips. I have 850+ hours of massage therapy education as well as thousands of hours of hands-on experience. I use the following modalities as building blocks to create an effective treatment tailored to meet your present needs:
Myofascial Release
A technique that provides sustained pressure on areas of restriction in the muscle and fascia in concert with gentle stretching to reduce pain and restore movement. Myo is the Latin prefix for muscle, and fascia is the connective tissue that is under the skin and encloses muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments. Restrictions on the myofascial tissues due to injury, overuse, and inactivity can result in pain and tension.
Neuromuscular Therapy
A technique that provides precise pressure on knotty, taut bands of fibrous tissue, known as trigger points, breaking up the contracted tissue and restoring blood flow to the area. Trigger points can cause both localized and referred pain.
Cupping Therapy
A technique that creates negative pressure through suction. The negative pressure decompresses and gently lifts the skin and superficial muscle and fascial tissues to stimulate blood circulation and relieve pain caused by muscles tension, injuries, and inflammation. Read more about cupping therapy.
Cross-Fiber Friction
A technique that is performed perpendicular to the muscle fibers, reducing soreness and restoring blood flow.
Effleurage
A gentle technique that is used to warm up the muscles in preparation for deeper massage techniques. Effleurage stimulates the lymphatic system, facilitating removal of metabolic waste products from the body, improving overall health. Effleurage also activates the parasympathetic nervous response, encouraging deep relaxation.
Regular massage therapy is an effective treatment for reducing stress and easing pain. Massage can be a powerful tool to help you take charge of your well-being.
